Camping trips have returned! These have been few and far between over the past few years but they’re slowly making their way back onto our calendar on an annual or semi-annual basis. It’s the event coordinators’ goal to make these excursions event as convenient, accessible, inclusive, and fun as possible! Since they’re usually off of our home turf, the event coordinators will handle food logistics (for a low supply fee) and assist with travel planning.
For 2019, we invaded Sir Justin’s―our Director of Community Relations and the previous host of Chicago Puppy Patrol’s camping trips.
In 2020, we’re heading to Campit Outdoor Resort in Michigan! Campit is a private, inclusion-focused camping resort with a pool, showers, toilets, gift shop, and back woods trails for…late night ‘exploring’. All Campit attendees must be 21+. We will be using sites that have electricity and nearby access to water.
2020 EXCURSION FAQS
WHERE IS IT?
We’re looking into Campit Outdoor Resort near Sagataw, MI (close to the Dunes Resort).
WHEN IS IT?
Summer of 2020. Note that Campit features a number of attractively-themed weekends. While some of these weekends may sound exciting, we are more concerned with providing a quality camping experience for our overall group over attending a specifically themed weekend. Either way, we WILL have fun!
HOW DO I ATTEND?
We need to know you’re interested. Use the SurveyMonkey form below to provide us with your information so that we can communicate directly with you. After you submit the form, the event coordinators will know to contact you with details about food, travel, special needs, the price of admission, and general communication between all interested parties.
WHAT IS THE PRICE OF ADMISSION?
~$100. (A more-exact price will be given by late winter/early spring of 2020.) This covers food, beverage, firewood, the resort registration/fees, and general camping/cooking supplies.
WILL I NEED TO PAY THE FEE?
Yes. Campit Outdoor Resort is a private area. Unlike our previous excursions at Sir Justin’s, everyone that enters the grounds must register with the resort. Even if you only want to attend for 1 day with our group, you will need to pay the full fee for the full trip as it is entirely too difficult for the event coordinators to plan for varying schedules.
WHERE DO I PAY THE FEE?
You will pay by digital transfer (e.g. Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, PayPay, Facebook Messenger, Apple Pay). The event coordinators will announce the official method by late winter/early spring of 2020.
AM I EXEMPT FROM THE CAMP SUPPLY FEE IF I’M A MEMBER?
No. This fee is required to attend with our group.
WILL I NEED TO BRING ANY FOOD?
No. Unless you need something very specific, the event coordinators will supply common summer cookout meals and snacks for everyone.
WHAT SPECIFIC MEALS ARE INCLUDED?
Thursday dinner and bedtime snacks. Friday brunch, dinner, and bedtime snacks. Saturday brunch, dinner, and bedtime snacks. Sunday brunch. Additional snacks will be available throughout the entire weekend.
WHAT IF I HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?
After you submit your basic information to the SurveyMonkey form on this page, an event coordinator will know to contact with you to discuss any accommodations that need to be made. Please inform them of your restrictions.
DO I NEED TO BRING A TENT?
Possibly. We will have a limited number of campsites with a limited amount of space. Everyone will need to shack up with at least 1 more person. If you don’t have a tent and/or tent-mate, an event coordinator will know to contact with you to discuss any accommodations that need to be made.
WHAT IF I NEED A RIDE?
We don’t want lack of transportation to prevent you from attending the event. After you submit your basic information to the SurveyMonkey form on this page, an event coordinator will know to contact you to discuss any accommodations that need to be made.
CAN I STILL ATTEND OR STOP BY IF I’M NOT PLANNING TO ATTEND THE ENTIRE WEEKEND?
No and yes. If you wish to pop in for only 1 day, you will still need to pay our group’s full price of admission for the weekend. Also keep in mind that the event coordinators are only able to provide carpooling options on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.
